Erica Leach is a dedicated learning specialist and Orton-Gillingham tutor who has changed the reading trajectory of hundreds of students with dyslexia. Erica is passionate and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of students with dyslexia. Erica has expertise and a deep understanding of the Orton-Gillingham approach and has successfully helped hundreds of students become more confident learners and achieve academic success.

Erica earned her bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College, where she developed a strong foundation in educational theory and practice. However, it was during her postgraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University that she focused on addressing the needs of the struggling readers in her 1st grade classroom. Erica practices the Orton-Gillingham approach, a teaching methodology that resonates deeply with her and allows her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with dyslexia.

Recognizing the potential of this approach to transform lives, Erica decided to pursue specialized training in Orton-Gillingham instruction and is certified by CERI (Center for Effective Reading Instruction) and holds a Maryland teaching certificate as well. This comprehensive training has equipped her with the necessary skills to address the unique needs of learners with dyslexia.

For 25 years, Erica has specialized in working with students with dyslexia in a variety of different roles including: a classroom teacher, private tutor, learning specialist and Director and Founder of the Center for Learning at St. Anne’s School of Annapolis. She practices an “all hands on deck” approach and understands the importance of creating partnerships and collaborating with schools, parents, and other outside professionals to create comprehensive and individualized learning plans for her students.

As an experienced teacher, Erica’s teaching philosophy centers around creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment. She understands the challenges that students with dyslexia face and is patient, empathetic, and encouraging.
